Current Nightlife Attends Techweek 2017 in Chicago

This Summer Current Nightlife dropped in on Chicago’s annual Techweek.

Millercoors hosted the kickoff event downtown at Venue Six10. Shandy in hand, Current Nightlife CEO’s Michael Haapaniemi and James Mason met with other prominent technology innovators.

Bouncing ideas with successful tech startup CEOs like Technori, SpotHero, and Zenefits gave Current better insight into how to take the app to the next level.

“It was great to pick their brains” Mason said, “we found out they were facing similar challenges when their companies were our size.”

Later that week, Current heard from Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel during a fireside chat for executives. Emanuel spoke about the future of tech in the city of Chicago and indicated Chicago was becoming the next tech hub compared to the Valley.

“The mayor has really been investing in the future of Chicago tech,” Haapaniemi said. “We’re excited to be a part of it.”

Alongside Emanuel’s investments in the tech industry, he implemented a mandatory computer science course in all Chicago Public Schools. This continues his legacy in making CPS a national leader in STEM.

Look for Current Nightlife this Sunday at the Whiskey and Wine festival to continue the conversation. Cheers to another year!
